My ManWHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING

A message every adult should read because children
are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang
my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately
wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat,
and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make my favorite cake for me,
and I learned that the little things can be
the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I heard you say a prayer,
and I knew that there is a God
I could always talk to,
and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make a meal and take it
to a friend who was sick,
and I learned that we all have to
help take care of each other..

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you give of your time and money
to help people who had nothing,
and I learned that those who have
something should give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you take care of our house
and everyone in it,
and I learned we have to take care
of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw how you handled your responsibilities,
even when you didn't feel good,
and I learned that I would have to be
responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw tears come from your eyes,
and I learned that sometimes things hurt,
but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw that you cared,
and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I learned most of life's lessons that I need to
know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I looked at you and wanted to say,
'Thanks for all the things I saw when
you thought I wasn't looking.'

I AM SENDING THIS TO ALL OF THE
PEOPLE I KNOW WHO DO SO
MUCH FOR OTHERS BUT THINK
THAT NO ONE EVER SEES.

LITTLE EYES SEE A LOT.

Each of us (parent, grandparent, aunt,
uncle, teacher, friend) influence the life
of a child. Live simply. Love generously.

Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God.

Now for my share on this matter.............

Don't you just love the face on the kid up there ^^^^?

I really loved the message this post convened, one of the things as a parent we don't always realize is just how much our children not only pick up but learn from us.

As usual, I will use a real life experience where the Lord opened my eyes and revealed the thoughts of my son at the age of 6 years old. I was an Elder in a church at the time and a teacher. We had a member that had MS I believe it was. He had taken quite a liking to me and as the Lord tells us in 1 Cor 12:27 22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked: 25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it.

We would invite Joe, that was his name over for a Sunday dinner a few times a month. He was living in a kind of halfway house in a one bedroom apartment shared with another person. There were druggies there and he wasn't treated very well but there wasn't much we could do but love him and share as much time as we could with him. We also tried helping him get into a much better place.

One evening after dinner my son and I drove Joe back to his "Home" in my 1940 Ford Hot Rod. Joe loved that car. We parked in the rear lot of the big blue Victorian house that had been built around the turn of the century.

As we walked in through the kitchen I looked down and saw green and white tile and in a split second I was back in time and looking down at a black and red tiled floor in a place called the Red Top Inn where my father used to take me on Saturdays while he drank with friends and tried picking up side masonry jobs. There was Bill Williams with his one eyed rat terrier, and all the usual Saturday guys. To my right was the shuffle board with the chrome pucks and the red or blue inserts and always that glass of coke.

I ended up drinking in bars at 15, then tending bars and so on. Because, this is what you did when you grew up to be a man.

I was now back in the kitchen of the Victorian house looking at my son who was behind Joe and looking at the floor as he walked through the kitchen and I just knew in my heart of hearts, his thoughts were, this is what you do when you become a man.

Praise be to God, neither of my children have ever caused me a bit of trouble and both are respected by every adult that knows them. They grew up sleeping on the church floor at evening services and going to Sunday school while my wife and I either were attending service or ministering the word.

They do watch everything you do, and they believe what you do is what they are to do and how they are to act when they grow up.

Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
