Violence against pro-lifers continues

Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 7/18/2009 4:05:00 AM
A Rockford, Illinois, pro-life group is waiting to see if charges will be lodged in an alleged assault on one of their demonstrators earlier this month.IllinoisA homeless man, Scott Griffin, joined other protesters in prayer at an abortion clinic in Rockford. He was walking across the clinic driveway when an employee approached in her car.

"And she did not slow down, did not make any attempt to avoid him, just missed him by a fraction of an inch with her front fender, but hit him extremely hard with the mirror on the passenger side and sent him flying," says Kevin Rilott of the Rockford Pro-Life Initiative.

Rilott adds that the employee did not stop but parked the car and walked into the clinic. He stresses it is not an isolated incident.

"We've had two other cases in the past where pro-lifers have been hit at the driveway, and we've tried to get charges filed and the city would not file it," he adds.

But since a Christian mayor has been elected, Rilott says the city is more responsive to the pro-lifers rights and their safety. He hopes the city might be more inclined to follow through on the latest incident.

Griffin was bruised in the incident but has recovered.

Study shows disparities in health care for minorities
Thursday, July 16, 2009 10:19 PM EDT
By JAMES CRAVEN
Staff Writer
NEW BRITAIN — A newly released report by the Connecticut Citizen Action Group highlights the problems of minority communities and health care.

CCAG Deputy Director Phil Sherwood said the report, “Unequal Lives: Health Care Discrimination Harms Communities of Color in Connecticut,” explains how more than 103 million members of the nation’s minority populations suffer disproportionately because they do not have adequate health care.

“We must provide quality, affordable health care to everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, sex or income,” said Sherwood, who also is an alderman on the city’s Common Council.

Sherwood said with its large population of people of color, the city’s residents would benefit from the plan.

Legislation under consideration in Congress would offer the best chance since 1965 to erase persistent health disparities between white and minority groups.

The statistics published in the report outline the effect of inadequate health care on minority groups in Connecticut.

• The infant mortality rate for African Americans is more than three times that of whites.

• Eighteen percent of African Americans are diagnosed with diabetes, twice that of whites

• Twelve percent of African American adults have asthma, compared to 9 percent of whites.

• Twenty-five percent of Latina and African-American women received no early prenatal care, compared with 9 percent for whites.

Rhona Cohen, with the Connecticut Center for a New Economy, said that health inequity is about institutionalized biases in the medical system.

“For people of color in Connecticut and nationwide, life is shorter, chronic illness more prevalent and disability more common,” Cohen said. “We need Congress to support and enact legislation that works to erase inequities in health access, treatments and outcomes.”

Not everyone is in agreement, however. Douglas Elmendorf, director of the Congressional Budget Office in his online blog, wrote that he was highly critical of provisions put forth by Democrats to reform health care.

“Among other things, those provisions would establish a mandate for most legal residents to obtain insurance, significantly expand eligibility for Medicaid, and set up insurance exchanges through which certain individuals and families could receive federal subsidies to substantially reduce the cost of purchasing that coverage,” Elmendorf wrote. “Enacting those provisions by themselves would result in a net increase in federal budget deficits of $1,042 billion over the 2010–2019 period.”

Sherwood, along with CCAG Board Member, Lisa Reynolds, maintained that the long history of discrimination in medical treatment mandated a change in the health care system.

“Our current health care system is broken for everyone,” Reynolds said, adding that the 896,000 people of color in Connecticut need help now. “We need a health care system that can overcome racial and ethnic health disparities; anything less is simply unacceptable.”

B. Hussein Obama has brought Nazi style eugenics to America. In the most heinous act of treason ever committed in America, Dear Leader has rushed through six months of massive legislation in the hope that he will forever change our Constitutional Republic into his dominion, a dominion of evil. The next phase of that plan is to take over the healthcare system, where B. Hussein Obama has repeatedly said eighty percent of healthcare resources are used on twenty percent of the population. Who is that twenty percent? They are the undesirables (low income, inner city pregnant women and girls), the elderly (with higher healthcare needs), the middle aged (in poor health) and those born with birth defects. The biggest indicator this plan is bad for America is the fact that the elite in select unions, Congress and the President, including his staff and Vice President, will be exempt from the healthcare plan being thrust upon us, the little people. In George Orwell’s Animal Farm, it was written, regarding the communist/Marxist take over in Russia that, “All animals are created equal, some are just more equal than others”.

B. Hussein Obama’s recent appointment of Science Czar, John Holdren, a known eugenicist and author on the subject, is the final nail in the coffin for anyone doubting his intentions. Holdren, being a czar, does not require vetting by Congress and operates outside Constitutional or Congressional authority. His duties are: Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Co-Chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Do not think of science or technology without putting the word “medical” in front of both.

John Holdren’s most notable contribution to society, aside from his carbon footprint is a book that he co-authored, that contains such information as:

** Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not
** The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation's drinking water or in food
** Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise
** People who "contribute to social deterioration" (i.e. undesirables) "can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility

Now, combine this with Justice Ginsburg’s recent comments about Roe v. Wade being about eliminating undesirables from society and a much broader picture develops. Combine that with the fact that Obama insisted on ensuring that fifty million dollars went to eugenicists in China, and you begin to get a global picture of his plan for the elimination of undesirables (registered Republicans?). There is even a video of a panel discussion that clearly was not supposed to be leaked to the public and has not been shown on the mainstream media, showing B. Hussein Obama’s plan to depopulate America. Our government and the Obama administration will decide who lives and who dies. It is that simple.

Alzheimer’s affects over 4.5 million people in America. With the aging of America, that number will only grow. Treatment for these people is very expensive. And, they hold most of the wealth in America. Remember Dear Leader wants to redistribute wealth, how better to facilitate that, than by eliminating those that hold the wealth and save the money it would take to treat them as well. Doctors are already beginning to abuse the elderly and let them die painful deaths:

End-of-life health care is costly, and several recent small studies have seemed to show, against common sense, that patients with feeding tubes do not survive longer than those who do not receive them. When pressed, physicians acknowledge that these small studies are inconclusive, but they nevertheless embrace them. It is hard to imagine another case where inconclusive results in a handful of small studies challenging long-standing practice in a life and death situation would trump practice. When it comes to the elderly, though, the medical profession seems to have a different set of rules. So it is that physicians now counsel families not to treat the severely demented.

Now, back to John Holdren, the new minister of death, excuse me Science Czar, who has also stated that, “A transnational Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force”. Wow. Combine that with Dear Leaders statement during the campaign that he wants his own domestic military force and a very ugly picture comes to mind.

It is no coincidence that Obama has been a huge supporter of Planned Parenthood, an organization based upon eugenics and the elimination of inner city babies, not yet born. Even the name, “Planned Parenthood” is a misnomer, as they do not help people plan for parenthood, they perform abortions, funded with your tax dollars.

Government run healthcare will mean mandatory vaccinations, doctors taking direction from the government, and the vessel for that is already in place and passed as stealth legislation:

Government run health care also means mandatory vaccinations. The CDC is now saying that the U.S. may need 600 million doses of swine flu vaccine in order to vaccinate every man, woman and child in the United States this fall.

In the future, if your national health record shows that you have not taken the mandatory vaccines, then you will not be able to get anymore health care until you do.

But there are even more frightening health care changes that the Congress passed earlier this year.

The truth is that the Democrats inserted provisions into one of the "stimulus" bills that gave the federal government COMPLETE control over your health care under a nationalized health care plan.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, otherwise known as "the economic stimulus bill" contained almost all of the key elements of Tom Daschle's ideal nationalized health care system that he outlined in his 2008 book, Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.

In his book, Daschle wrote that doctors will have to “learn to operate less like solo practitioners” and be willing to accept mandatory government controls and guidelines.

Guess what?

That is precisely what the bill forces doctors to do.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 created a brand new bureaucracy called the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology. This new government organization will monitor all medical treatments to make sure that your doctor is prescribing the exact drugs and medical treatments that the federal government believes are "appropriate" and "cost effective".

As you can see, sitting idly by and waiting for someone to do something will no longer suffice. Recently I issued a call to action, organized a protest and eleven people showed up. Pathetic. You are sitting idly by, just like the Jewish people did in Nazi Germany, and waiting for your death. Is that acceptable? It isn’t to me. Senator DeMint said that thirty percent of Americans will have to take action before we can stop what Obama is doing. The Revolutionary War was fought with three percent of our population taking action, another seven to ten percent assisting out of sight and the balance doing nothing out of fear. Three percent will not suffice this time. Your government is not coming for you wallet. Obama is not reaching out for your guns, he is going to take your life. Only the chosen will live. Only the secular progressives will draw breath. We are a dying breed.

I beg of you all, get up, stand up, and fight for your rights, one of which is the right to live. If you wait too long, it will be too late. Too late in this case means death. Death at the hands of our own government. Dear Leader is coming for you.

Advice to consumers re: healthcare reform: 'Be wary'
Jim Brown and Jody Brown - OneNewsNow - 7/10/2009 6:00:00 AM
medical symbolsA healthcare expert is skeptical of hospitals' claims that they are going to save the government billions of dollars over the next ten years.Vice President Joe Biden announced Wednesday that hospital executives have agreed give up $155 billion in future Medicare and Medicaid payments to help defray the cost of President Obama's government-run healthcare plan. The White House also says healthcare providers have promised $2 trillion in savings over the next decade.

James Lansberry is vice president ofSamaritan Ministries International. Lansberry, a supporter of patient-centered healthcare reform, says the Obama administration is going to be working overtime to get some of the stakeholders back to the table.

He points out that while the American Hospital Association has not yet weighed in "vehemently" against the new plan, the American Medical Association has. "And the insurance companies are talking about...being against the new government option that's coming out," he adds.

James Lansberry (Samaritan Ministries Intl.)The government's proposal for healthcare reform, he says, faces a difficult fight against the likes of the AMA and health insurers. "They're all going to be looking to try to preserve themselves," Lansberry explains, "and I think that as Americans we need to be looking for how to preserve the overall freedom of individual choice in healthcare -- and not looking for ways that the government can get their fingers into more parts of the pie."

Lansberry urges people to "be wary" when industry lobbyists say they are going to reduce costs, because "nobody gets hired by an industry to make their clients make less money."
Story continues below ...Do you think Capitol Hill is on the right track when it comes to healthcare reform?Vote in our poll
In a recent press release, the Samaritan Ministries spokesman criticizes one specific aspect of several healthcare proposals being considered in Congress: a mandate that employers provide health insurance for their employees. Lansberry contends such a mandate would impose "crippling costs" on many small businesses, resulting in a negative effect on the economy.

"An employer mandate will mean lost jobs -- and those jobs will be lost in small, local businesses that we need to see thrive," he states. "Small businesses are the strength of our economy, especially in the local area."

He says if Congress is serious about preventing unemployment rates from increasing, it needs to pay attention to the costs associated with added regulations like an employer mandate.

Investigation requested of Tiller crony
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 6/19/2009 6:40:00 AM
LeRoy Carhart clinic (Abortion & Contraception Clinic of Nebraska)Operation Rescueis asking Nebraska's attorney general to investigate the facilities and practices of abortionist LeRoy Carhart.Operation Rescue president Troy Newman is asking for the probe after Carhart stated his intent to open a late-term abortion business. Newman believes conditions at the Abortion & Contraception Clinic of Nebraska -- Carhart's current facility in Bellevue, Nebraska -- should sound an alarm.

"His abortion clinic looks like something that would be the epitome of a back-alley abortion clinic," states Newman. "[It's] a disgusting place [where] you wouldn't want your nails done -- you wouldn't want a pedicure at this place, let alone an invasive surgical procedure that could possibly take your life."

Troy NewmanIn the past, Operation Rescue has released pictures showing Carhart accepting abortion patients while running the clinic on only an extension cord and a generator. According to Newman, the local fire chief described the abortionist as the type of person who "would put a gallon of gasoline on top of a furnace."

"[Carhart's] garage was just stacked full of combustible material with furnaces," Newman adds, "and finally there was a fire there."

Carhart, who was once an employee of Wichita abortionist George Tiller, tried to revive his business, but the city shut him down temporarily over safety concerns. Newman is asking for the state probe in the interest of public safety.**************************

The Tiller ironies
Peter Heck - Guest Columnist - 6/16/2009 7:15:00 AM
Caution: This column contains graphic descriptions that some may find offensive.Peter HeckThough predictable, it was no less despicable. Just a day following the heinous murder of the country's foremost practitioner of infanticide, George Tiller, radical anti-human rights activists on the left were already condemning the entire pro-life movement for facilitating the incident. Left-wing websites like the Daily Kos blamed conservative commentators Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck for causing it, the Huffington Post deemed it a morally outrageous hypocrisy, and PBS's abortion fanatic Bonnie Erbe went so far as to characterize the entire pro-life movement as a breeding ground for domestic terrorists.

Of course rational people recognize that it borders on clinical insanity to rail about the moral outrage of killing a single human being while simultaneously defending and advocating the wholesale slaughter of millions of others. And just to make sure that there is no confusion on this point, let's be clear on what Tiller did for a living.George Tiller specialized in what is euphemistically called late-term abortion. It involves the breech (feet first) delivery of a full-term baby to the point where only the head remains inside the birth canal...ostensibly to soothe the conscience of the mother by muffling the child's screams as scissors penetrate the back of his tiny skull and the contents are brutally suctioned out.

The lifeless little body is then fully removed and discarded, in pieces, into a trash sack. Former late-term abortionists have also admitted that sometimes a partially delivered child can pose health risks for the woman, and so the baby is entirely delivered before being exterminated. There is a term that some of us use for such an act. It's called murder.

Again, these are full-term, completely viable infants capable of living outside the womb with totally developed life systems – including the ability to experience pain. In short, Tiller practiced infanticide – and the left defended it. Hearing these leftists now lament the taking of human life is disgracefully stomach turning.

Notice then the irony of the situation. The only people in a position to truly express outrage over Tiller's murder are those that the left is attempting to blame for it. But this is just one of the numerous twists surrounding this tragic situation.

For instance, consider this irony: those that claim to be outraged by Tiller's murder will be calling for a lighter penalty than those they condemn for causing it. When Tiller's murderer is brought to justice, it will be those of us who oppose abortion that will be demanding his execution. The intrinsic value of human life (which, paradoxically, Tiller assaulted) is so great that anyone who violates it forfeits his own right to live.

Meanwhile, it will be those on the left who proudly defended Tiller's life work that will call for a softer sentence. They consider the death penalty barbaric and find pro-lifers who advocate capital punishment inconsistent. "You can't be pro-life and pro-death penalty!" they shout.

Evidently to them, being pro-abortion and anti-death penalty is somehow better?! Is there anything more ethically offensive then those who defend the right to life for convicted, murderous felons, yet strip that right from innocent newborn babies? It is astonishing that anyone can be so blinded by their own self-righteous pomposity that they fail to see this blatant moral incongruity.

It's also notably ironic that the same ideological movement that demands we not castigate all Muslims for the actions of a few is so quick to violate its own precepts when it comes to this issue. We aren't hearing the throngs of Hollywood activists shouting that "most pro-lifers are peaceful," or seeing Democratic congressmen thumping their chests while proclaiming that "revenge against the pro-life movement for the actions of this one radical will not be tolerated."

[Untitled]Another late-term abortionist revives Tiller's mission
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 6/16/2009 6:00:00 AM
Indeed, the ironies surrounding the murder of this murderer are plentiful to say the least. But perhaps the most tragic of them all is that in the end, George Tiller met a brutal demise at the hands of someone who exhibited a blatant disrespect for the intrinsic value of human life...a lesson that Tiller – with the left's blessing – dedicated his life to teaching.LeRoy Carhart (abortion doc)A late-term abortionist has said he will perform limited late-term abortions in Nebraska and plans to open a Kansas facility, too. His announcement comes on the heels of the murder of Wichita abortionist George Tiller.Leroy Carhart, whose legal cases struck down the initial federal bans on partial-birth abortions, worked part-time at Tiller's Wichita clinic.Operation Rescuepresident Troy Newman responds to Carhart's latest statements.

"One thing we know about Mr. Leroy Carhart in our long experience with him is virtually nothing that he says publicly actually comes to pass," he notes. "Secondly, we know that he's broke and what he has done here in Kansas is lost a job that's been extremely lucrative for him."

Newman says that only seven percent of the American people, including President Obama, favor late-term abortions. He points out the medical community sees no need for them.

Will Health Care Reform Force You to Pay for Abortions?
Troy Newman"It is never, ever medically necessary to kill a preborn baby in the eighth and ninth month," Newman believes. "The neonatal hospitals are filled with babies at 22, 23, 24 weeksand above on a respirator and an IV tube, and these babies are surviving."

According to Newman, abortionists like Leroy Carhart who want to continue to profiteer from the killing of innocent children are becoming increasingly scarce and people will continue to scrutinize what they do and ask for law enforcement agencies to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
Will Health Care Reform Force You to Pay for Abortions?
June 12, 2009 | Share with Friends
President Obama and the Democratic leadership are putting health care reform on a fast track, hoping to take control of 17 percent of the national economy in 6-8 weeks.
Any health care reform must address a number of factors, including affordability, accessibility, portability and transparency. Families, not government, should control how health care dollars are spent.
No health care reform should force us to perform or be complicit in actions we find offensive. A right of conscience protects physicians and other health providers from being compelled to do things that violate religious or moral briefs.
Of highest importance, under no circumstances should taxpayers be forced to give up what they have now, which is a firewall between their tax dollars and abortion. Because of the many ways health policy can be crafted to finesse this issue, as happened under the health insurance connector in Massachusetts, our position must be explicit: "If the legislation that is put to a vote in Congress does not explicitly exclude abortion, it will unquestionably include it and we will oppose it."
Please watch this video and then sign our petition to House and Senate leaders telling them that you oppose forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions in any health care reform plan.

Comment: Obama is a RADICAL and those he surrounds himself are radicals too.

Obama's science czar suggested compulsory abortion, sterilization
By: David Freddoso
Commentary Staff Writer
07/14/09 4:55 PM EDT

Internet reports are now circulating that Obama's Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, John Holdren, penned a 1977 book that approved of and recommended compulsory sterilization and even abortion in some cases, as part of a government population control regime.

Given the general unreliability of Internet quotations, I wanted to go straight to this now-rare text and make sure the reports were both accurate and kept Holdren's writings in context. Generally speaking, they are, and they do.

The Holdren book, titled Ecoscience and co-authored with Malthus enthusiasts Paul and Anne Ehrlich, weighs in at more than 1,000 pages. Of greatest importance to its discussion of how to limit the human population is its disregard for any ethical considerations.

Holdren (with the Ehrlichs) notes the existence of “moral objections to some proposals...especially to any kind of compulsion.” But his approach is completely amoral. He implies that compulsory population control is less preferable, because of some people's objections, but he argues repeatedly that it is sometimes necessary, and necessity trumps all ethical objections.

He writes:

Several coercive proposals deserve discussion, mainly because some countries may ultimately have to resort to them unless current trends in birth rates are rapidly reversed by other means. Some involuntary measures could be less repressive or discriminatory, in fact, than some of the socioeconomic measures suggested.

Holdren refers approvingly, for example, to Indira Gandhi's government for its then-recent attempt at a compulsory sterilization program:

India in the mid-1970s not only entertained the idea of compulsory sterilization, but moved toward implementing it...This decision was greeted with dismay abroad, but Indira Gandhi's government felt it had little other choice. There is too little time left to experiment further with educational programs and hope that social change will generate a spontaneous fertility decline, and most of the Indian population is too poor for direct economic pressures (especially penalties) to be effective.

When necessary, then, compulsory sterilization is justified. This attitude suffuses the following passage, in which the possibility of putting a “sterilant” into a population's drinking water is seriously discussed. Holdren and his co-authors do not recommend this particular method, but their objections to it are merely practical and health-related, not moral or stemming from any concern for human freedom:

Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the oposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock...Again, there is no sign of such an agent on the horizon. And the risk of serious, unforeseen side effects would, in our opinion, militate against the use of any such agent, even though this plan has the advantage of avoiding the need for socioeconomic pressures that might tend to discriminate against particular groups or penalize children.

Even though they do not recommend it, note that Holdren and his co-authors treat this as a serious policy proposal with serious drawbacks -- not as an insane idea unworthy of consideration.

They look with more favor on this “milder” form of coercive sterilization:

Of course, a government might require only implantation of the contraceptive capsule, leaving its removal to the individual's discretion but requiring reimplantation after childbirth. Since having a child would require positive action (removal of the capsule), many more births would be prevented than in the reverse situation.

Holdren and his co-authors also tackle the problem of illegitimacy, recognizing that it could be one consequence of a society which, in its effort to limit births, downgrades the value of intact nuclear families and encourages lifelong bachelorhood:

[R]esponsible parenthood ought to be encouraged and illegitimate childbearing could be strongly discouraged. One way to carry out this disapproval might be to insist that all illegitimate babies be put up for adoption -- especially those born to minors, who generally are not capable of caring properly for a child alone...It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society.

Holdren's suggestion here is presented perfectly in context. It stands alone in the text without any accompanying reservations.

President Obama has spoken repeatedly in favor of putting science before ideology. The real debate, however, has never been about whether ethics are needed in science, but rather over whose ethics should determine where science will or will not go.

Nowhere has Obama suggested that science should be completely ethics-free. But Holdren is his Science Czar all the same.

Smuggling abortion agenda into healthcare reform
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 7/16/2009 6:00:00 AM
abortion forcepsIf passed, two healthcare reform bills could mean more abortions at taxpayers' expense. The two primary measures -- the Kennedy bill and the House Democratic leadership bill -- contain provisions that would represent the greatest expansion of abortion since the Supreme Court legalized it in 1973, according to Douglas Johnson of theNational Right to Life Committee.

"These two bills contain multiple provisions that would result in federally mandated insurance coverage of abortion on demand, result in massive federal subsidies for abortion, result even in mandated creation of many new abortion clinics across the country," he explains.

Johnson adds the bills would nullify at least some state limitations on abortion. He concludes passage would result in an increase in abortions, but recalls the Obama administration promised to take steps to reduce them.

Douglas Johnson (NRLC)"And it's quite true that the majority of Americans do not want the government to be promoting abortion as a method of birth control --but that is what is imbedded in these bills," Johnson notes.

According to Johnson, the pro-abortion movement hopes to smuggle the policies into law by using healthcare as a vehicle --and there is a grave danger they will succeed, he laments, unless the public urges their elected representatives to vote against the measures.
On a party-line vote Wednesday, the Senate's Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee passed the $600 billion Kennedy bill. Democratic lawmakers in both houses of Congress are pushing for debate and passage of the bills before the August recess.Does it anger you that healthcare reforms being discussed in Congressinclude insurance coverage of abortion?Vote in our poll

ABORTION/H.R. 3170

Tell your representative to oppose H.R. 3170 if it allows public funds for abortion in Washington, D.C.
July 14, 2009

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a bill that will allow public funds to be used to pay directly for abortions in our nation's capital. If this measure passes, taxpayer money appropriated by Congress will be sent directly to the abortion industry in Washington , D.C. Tell your member of Congress to oppose this change in the law and to vote against the passage of H.R. 3170 if it continues to allow the use of locally generated tax revenues - public money - to be used for the killing of innocent human lives in the womb.

Since 1988, except for a short period under President Clinton, the Congress of the United States has adopted language known as the Dornan Amendment that limits the use of tax funds to pay for abortions in the nation's capital. This amendment has been applied to both federally and locally generated tax revenues - in short, all public funds - that are appropriated by Congress to the District of Columbia . This amendment has protected women in Washington , D.C. from the abortion industry and led many to choose positive alternatives for themselves and their babies.

Now, pro-abortion members of Congress want tax funds used for abortion again. If they succeed in doing so on H.R. 3170, this will open the door for the repeal of nearly two dozen other federal laws that have similar limits on the use of public money to pay for abortions, including through the pending health care reform. The stakes could not be higher. Please contact your member of Congress now and tell him or her to oppose H.R. 3170 if it allows the use of locally generated tax funds for abortion. Please act now as the vote is likely to happen on Wednesday, July 15.

Tell your representative to oppose H.R. 3170 if it allows public funds for abortion in Washington, D.C.

Obama’s Plan Would Repeal Medicare

President Barack Obama's healthcare proposal is, in effect, the repeal of the Medicare program as we know it. The elderly will go from being the group with the most access to free medical care to the one with the least access. Indeed, the principal impact of the Obama healthcare program will be to reduce sharply the medical services the elderly can use. No longer will their every medical need be met, their every medication prescribed, their every need to improve their quality of life answered. It is so ironic that the elderly, who were so vigilant when President George W. Bush proposed to change Social Security, are so relaxed about the Obama healthcare proposals. Bush's Social Security plan, which did not cut their benefits at all, aroused the strongest opposition among the elderly. But Obama's plan, which will totally gut Medicare and replace it with government-managed care and rationing, has elicited little more than a yawn from most senior citizens. It's time for the elderly to wake up before it is too late! In our new book, “Catastrophe,” we explain — in detail and in depth — the consequences the elderly of Canada are feeling from just this kind of program. Limited colonoscopies have led to a 25 percent higher rate of colon cancer, and a ban on the use of the two best chemotherapies are part of the reason why 42 percent of Canadians with colon cancer die while 31 percent of Americans, who have access to these two medications, succumb to the disease. Editor's Note: Get Dick Morris' book, "Catastrophe." Go Here Now. Overall, the death rate from cancer in Canada is 16 percent higher than in the United States and the heart disease mortality rate is 6 percent above ours. Under Obama's program, there will be a government health insurance company that gets huge subsidies of tax money. It will compete with private insurance plans. But the subsidies will let it undercut the private plans and drive them out of business, leaving only the government plan — a single payer — in effect. Today, 800,000 doctors struggle to treat adequately the 250 million Americans who have insurance. Obama will add 50 million more to their caseload with no expansion in the number of doctors or nurses. Indeed, his plan will likely reduce their number by lowering reimbursement rates and imposing bureaucrats above them who will force medical decisions down their throats. Fewer doctors will have to treat more patients. The inevitable result will be rationing. And it is the elderly who rationing will most affect. Who should get a knee replacement, a 40-year-old or a 70-year-old? Who should get a new hip, a young person or an old person? Who should have priority in the operating room, a 70-year-old diabetic who needs bypass surgery or a younger person? Obviously, it is the elderly who will get short shrift under his proposal. But the interest groups that usually speak up for the elderly, particularly AARP, are in Obama's pocket, hoping to profit from his program by becoming one of its vendors. Just as they backed Bush's prescription drug plan because they anticipating profiting from it, so they are now helping Obama gut the medical care of their constituents. It is high time that the elderly of America realized what the stakes are in this vital fight to preserve Medicare as we know it and keep medical care open, accessible, and free to those over 65. It is truly a battle for their very lives

KathrynMc PRAYER TO OVERCOME ADDICTIONS 0 Jul 13 2009, 3:20 AM EDT by KathrynMc

Prayer to Overcome Addictions
Dear God,

I come to You as I come to no one else.

I am so sorry. I have tried to throw away my life, my body, my soul—through addiction.

But recognition of my addiction has never given me power to control it.

You know this. You never blame me. You know the truth.

Addiction is an attractor field in which minds and bodies become mired to escape emotional pain.

But there is another, better way to escape pain.

Pain is transcended through an authentic calling from You.

Therefore, I surrender myself, now, to You.

I demand, now, in this moment, Father, that You call me—that You call me loudly.

You raise me up out of addiction and into a higher level attractor field.

And as You raise me, so do You raise Humanity out of addiction and into a higher level attractor field.

Together we rise, as one force in You, one at a time and together.

Because the world needs us. We rise or we fall, together.

For You need me. I am Your Thoughts, Your Voice, Your Hands.

I rejoice in awe over my inherent holiness: I am where You reside.

By Your grace, as I read this, my mind is aligned with Yours.

By Your grace, the power of my mind is multiplied exponentially by all who read this.

Aligned with You, we are more powerful than any evil—
or any substance—can ever be.

Together WE form a conduit of love that reaches into my need for addiction and I am healed.

By healing myself, I now heal Humanity's need for addiction.

Joy fills my soul. My gratitude is infinite.

Thank You.

And so it is.
Amen.

KathrynMc PRAYER FOR CURE OF CANCER 1 Jul 13 2009, 2:41 AM EDT by ChaplainEmil
Thread started: Jul 13 2009, 2:32 AM EDT  Watch
Men may give up, doctors may give up BUT God never gives up on anyone.

We read in the bible of a man called Lazarus, dead four days BUT Jesus never gave up on Him.

Father, we pray that you touch every cancer patient, heal them or grant them
sufficient grace to make it through. We pray for all the doctors and nurses taking
care of these dear ones. We pray for family members that God You will comfort
them and grant them peace.

We ask all this in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

PRAYER FOR PARENTS WITH ALZHEIMER'S

Loving God,

Please bless every mother and father who has Alzheimer’s disease.

He was with us children as we learned to walk.
-- Guide his uncertain steps today as his balance fails him.

She taught us to cross streets and be safe.
-- Help her not to get lost, even in her familiar surroundings.

He held us close in the terrors of the darkest nightmares.
-- May he not be frightened today by the reality of his life, which is strange and totally out of his control.

She cooked thousands of meals over decades of time.
-- Please allow her to accept the caring hand that now feeds her.

She changed diapers, Lord, and served you each time she did.
-- Please give her now the humility and grace to be served in this way.

Loving God, the familiar eyes of my mother
now respond with a blank stare.
She is unable to carry on a conversation,
to ask about her family
or to serve in the central role she has in our family.

Help my beloved father accept the surrender of his life these days.
Open his prayerful heart and fading mind
to be aware of your presence with him,
perhaps now closer than ever.

Give us, the family, the patience, courage and acceptance
to love her as she is and to support him, in his daily needs
