Guess what? Just what we need, another page to navigate. Sometimes I have some thoughts that I like to share with my friends and my Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Other times I might like to vent. Who me? Oh yeah, I do vent. Boy! Do I ever vent! I call it righteous anger many times when in reality it is purely being ticked off. Hey, I'm only human.

There have been times that I have liked to just share Jesus with others or my feelings on what is going on around us. So seeing as I am the Founder of this site, I can say and do as I like, Na, na, na, na.... ;-) Of course I'm teasing you. I like to let my hair down now and then. I know that Jesus did. Jesus was not a pious man and Lord knows, I sure as heck am not!

When I saw the Norman Rockwell artwork, I thought, that is the picture I want for the Chatterbox. That was just as it was when I was a child; when we took the Pledge as seriously as Rockwell depicts in his artwork.

No matter how much I long for those days to return, until we all return to God and have a serious, loving and personal relationship with our Lord that will sweep this Nation, we will never see those days again; not in this world or the one to come. Our true
allegiance must be to the Lord.

Troops die at record rate
Kabul - July 2009 has become the deadliest month for foreign troops fighting an eight-year war in Afghanistan, as Taliban guerrillas hone their bombing techniques and Westerners struggle in the harsh climate.

A month before Afghanistan goes to the polls for the second time to elect a head of state, British and US troops are pressing some of the biggest assaults of the war by storming Taliban bases in previously no-go southern areas.

The US military has spoken about pockets of resistance but officials say the British, whose apparent equipment shortages have sparked huge debate at home, have encountered some of the deadliest combat.

The independent website icasualties.org, which calculates military losses in Afghanistan and Iraq, put the number of dead in the Afghan war at 48 so far this July, topping the previous record of 46 in both June and August 2008.

In less than seven months, 204 foreign troops have died in Afghanistan, compared with 294 in the whole of 2008, 232 in 2007 and 191 in 2006.

The top US commander recognised that Taliban militants were now more violent and better organised, warning that troops faced a crucial 18-month battle to help stabilise Afghanistan.

Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the latest operations in southern Helmand province were only "just beginning", in an interview with the BBC's Arabic TV service.

"The Taliban has got much better. They are much more violent, they are much more organised and so there's going to be fighting that is associated with it," he said at Bagram air base outside Kabul.

Although he expressed confidence that there were sufficient resources in Helmand to hold areas taken by troops from the militants, the head of the British Army, General Richard Dannatt, has called for more troops on the ground.

"There may well be a case for what I would call a short term uplift... for about 12 to 18 months until the Afghan National Army can get the right strength down here," he said Friday.

The operations in the south are the first major test of US President Barack Obama's sweeping new strategy to stabilise Afghanistan, which includes the deployment of an extra 21 000 troops.

About 4 000 US Marines, backed by hundreds of Afghan forces, were dropped behind Taliban lines on July 2.

About 3 000 British troops have been pressing Operation Panther's Claw slightly further north since June 23.

Makeshift bombs, known in military parlance as improvised explosive devices (IEDs), have also become increasingly sophisticated, and the cause of death of about 80 percent of soldiers killed in the Afghan insurgency, officials say.

"On flat land as in Helmand, the Taliban can't fight troops face to face. IEDs are the best weapon for a guerrilla on such terrain. They can strike troops by IED and block their movement," said Afghan analyst Waheed Mujda.

"Once their routes are blocked, they have to pass through less flat terrain. There they (the Taliban) can attack them directly," he said.

Although US commanders claim their military is the best counter-insurgency force in the world after six years in Iraq, conventional fighting machines have for years been laid low by guerrillas.

Heat can also slow down foreigners.

"In a guerrilla war, a soldier must have the capability to manoeuvre. In Helmand, most NATO or US soldiers lack that capability, due to the harsh climate and weight of their gear," Mujda added.

Scorching summer temperatures can reach up to 46 degrees Celsius (115 degrees Fahrenheit) in Helmand.

Britain has lost 16 soldiers this month. Eight were killed in one 24-hour period, and a lieutenant colonel became the most senior British Army officer killed in action since the 1982 Falklands War.

"The terrain is more difficult for the British than the Americans. Where they are in the north, there are a lot of canals, few roads and a lot of IEDs, which limit their movement," said one Western military official.

"It seems that the insurgents have decided to stay and defend northern Helmand, while they have fled or stopped fighting in the south," said one US officer on condition of anonymity.

"We are going to continue to see big losses in the next one or two months," he added.

"But once this operation is done, we will have managed to stabilise these areas for the better." - Sapa-AFP

I have a question for you? What is the one Bible verse that you hear most often quoted by non-Christians? I will wait patiently here as the theme music from Jeopardy plays in my head and you ponder my question...okay. Given that I only have 800 words to work with here I will go ahead and tell you. The one Bible verse that every non-Christian believes comes from Matthew 7, verse 1, where Jesus says: "Judge not, lest ye be judged." People who don't believe in the Bible dearly love quoting this verse.


How many times have I heard that come out of the mouths of people who are otherwise clueless about the Bible? I can be watching the most godless reprobate on some television show talking about the vilest things he has done and when challenged about his behavior he will inevitably say: "Well, you know what the Bible says -- judge not, lest ye be judged."

This is the heathen's trump card. It's supposed to end all discussion. A verse from a book they otherwise scoff at. He doesn't have any regard for what that same Bible says about the wrongness of his behavior in the first place, nor does he read or study the Bible -- yet he knows somewhere in the Christian scripture it says something about not judging others...and that sure comes in handy.

Another verse more commonly used among Christians themselves when someone is caught doing something contrary to the teachings of the Bible is this -- again the words of Jesus: "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her."

This was a theme used at the recent funeral service for slain football star Steve McNair in Nashville. We all know that McNair was murdered by a young woman with whom he was having an adulterous affair.

"Drop your stone the next time you write about Steve McNair. Drop your stone the next time you text somebody. Drop your stone the next time you twitter. Drop your stone, those of you in the barbershops, the beauty shops. Those of you walking the streets, on the corner -- drop your stone," Bishop Joseph W. Walker III told thousands of people, among them family members, fans, and more than 50 former teammates, gathered at Mount Zion Baptist Church.

I once heard a pastor give some good advice about reading the Bible. He said when using a verse to make a point, always read the paragraph where the verse is found. In other words, put the verse in its right perspective. By understanding the context of a verse, we can better understand the real meaning or point of what is being said or communicated.

The point of Matthew 7:1 about not judging others is that we should each guard against self-righteousness, understanding that we all are weak human beings and capable of the same wrong-doing we are condemning in others. We must constantly examine our own hearts, attitudes, and actions and compare our lives to the standards that God expects us to follow as laid out in the Sermon on the Mount and the Ten Commandments. And when we sin -- that is, when we fail to live up to those standards -- we must repent before God and strive, with His help, to do better tomorrow.

As for the admonition of Pastor Walker at the service for Steve McNair, you talk about a man put in an awkward position. Here he is, trying to console the wife and children of a man who died while cheating on them. What do you say to the family that feels betrayed -- and what do you say to those watching the funeral?

The verse about stone-throwing is found in the beginning of John 8. Here the Hebrew scribes and Pharisees were trying to stump this new teacher -- Jesus, a Jew -- into contradicting the Law of Moses, which stated that the woman caught in adultery should be stoned. Jesus turned the test around on them and used that experience to teach her accusers a lesson, again, about self-righteousness. But he also told the woman, after saying he did not condemn her, to "...go, and from now on sin no more."

He called her adultery sin. Notice he did not say, "Go, and make no more mistakes." When we call sins "mistakes," we diminish the seriousness of what has occurred that the sinner is responsible for. Jesus came to Earth to die on a cross to pay the price for our sins, not our "mistakes."

Notice also, Jesus did not say to her, "Go, it's only sex." No, he called adultery "sin" and ordered her not to do it anymore. This is what Jesus did -- he judged the wrongness of the action, but he did not condemn the person. He offered her an opportunity to be repentant and start anew. He is our example.

Steve McNair's ending was a tragedy in many ways. Let's at least learn a lesson from it. Stay away from sin.

California's Education Department, teaching Islamic Studies to seventh-graders in its public schools

Under some pressure from parents, California’s Education Department is reviewing its guidelines for teaching Islamic Studies to seventh-graders in its public schools. We wrote about this trend six years ago when we discovered that, though the California standards require the study of all religions, Islam is examined disproportionately.

Moreover, the more extreme elements of the more radically Islamic societies, though they represent a minority of a religion whose adherents are overwhelmingly peaceful, are ignored, no matter how visible their acts are. The latest attempt to revamp the California rules adds a new wrinkle to this approach.

For example, the treatment of Shari’ah law in the framework for Islamic studies developed by the California Department of Education is, to say the least, problematic. “Students learn how the Qur’an and the Sunnah served as foundations for the Shari’ah, the religious laws governing moral social, and economic life,” the suggested framework reads. “Islamic law, for example, rejected the older Arabian view of women as ‘family property,’ declaring that women and men are entitled to respect and moral self-governance.”

“At the same time, students investigate the role of women in Islamic civilizations.” One page later we get, “Muslim merchants came to operate from China to the Mediterranean, their trade facilitated by shared acceptance of Shari’ah law.”
Yet all the available evidence indicates that Shari’ah law is hardly benign even in its present incarnation. “Major principles of shariah are a ban on interest, a ban on contractual uncertainty, adherence to risk-sharing and profitsharing, promotion of ethical investments that enhance society, and asset-backing,” Shayerah Ilias reports in a February 9, 2009 report by the Congressional Research Service (CRS). “The international market for Islamic finance has grown between 10% to 15% annually in recent years.”

“Islamic finance historically has been concentrated in Persian Gulf and Southeast Asian countries, but has expanded globally to both Muslim and non-Muslim countries.”

Ilias is an analyst in international trade and finance at the CRS. As its name suggests, the CRS is a research arm of the U. S. Congress.

“There is a small but growing market for Islamic finance in the United States,” Ilias writes. “Through international and domestic regulatory bodies, there has been effort to standardize regulations in Islamic finance across different countries and financial institutions, although challenges remain.”

“Critics of Islamic finance express concerns about possible ties between Islamic finance and political agendas or terrorist financing and the use of Islamic finance to circumvent U.S. economic sanctions.”

Analysts at Shariah Finance Watch (SFW) , who track the application of the law in the world today, do not take quite so sanguine a view of it. A project of the Center for Security Policy, SFW examines how this body of law works in and out of the Middle East.

“Understanding Shariah law is integral to understanding the dangers of Shariah-compliant finance,” the SFW website argues. “Shariah law is Islamic law dating back to the 7th century and is today the law of the land in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan and the law under which the Taliban operates.”

“Shariah law authorities, some of whom are now being paid handsomely by Barclays, Dow Jones, Standard & Poors, HSBC, Citibank, Merrill Lynch, Deutschebank, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Credit Suisse and others have the power to dictate Shariah compliance as deemed by ‘scholarly consensus’ on matters of finance, family, penal law, apostasy, and war.”

“Shariah law, or Islamic law, officially went into effect in a region in Pakistan this week and will likely result in ‘egregious’ human rights violations,” the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) reported on April 16, 2009. The USCIRF went on to note that “Under Taliban-enforced shariah law in North West Frontier Province’s (NWFP) Swat Valley, human rights and religious freedom - especially for women and members of religious minorities - are expected to suffer severely.”

“The violent, Taliban-associated extremists based in NWFP’s Swat Valley consistently demonstrate their disregard for fundamental human rights, and use public beheadings and beatings as a means of enforcing their control,” Felice D. Gaer, USCIRF chair stated. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom was created by an act of Congress and gives “independent policy recommendations to the President, the Secretary of State, and the Congress.”

Those who have lived under Shariah offer even harsher assessments. “Sharia[h] laws are being used by terrorists to violate divine human rights,” Shaukat Malik, a Muslim-American Certified Public Accountant, wrote on The Baltimore Sun web log.
“Sharia[h] is used to scare the average citizen into submission,” he wrote. “This is done through publicly staged floggings, stoning and executions of men and women for committing adultery or other sexual acts.”

The article below is welcome news. The U.S. must begin looking beyond the acts of Islamic terrorism and examine the real root causes for such terrorism, beginning with the doctrine of jihad and the call to jihad that permeates the holy books of Islam.

The radical rhetoric doesn’t occur in a vacuum. Perhaps analyzing the rhetoric may lead some in the Department of Homeland Security to seriously analyze the Islamist doctrines and ideology behind the rhetoric.

DHS hopes to correlate language of extremist groups to acts of terrorism

A privacy assessment filed by researchers at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has thrown some light on a project to study "radical rhetoric" and how extreme language relates to violent activities in acts of terrorism.

The research effort, formally titled Comparative Case Studies of Radical Rhetoric, aims to examine whether characteristics of rhetoric used by extremists have a relationship with how likely they are to engage in violence.

The Human Factors/Behavioral Sciences Division (HFD) of the DHS Directorate of Science and Technology (S&T) undertook the project to see if it could determine whether analyzing rhetoric could distinguish between groups that do and do not engage in violent attacks or could assist in predicting upcoming violent attacks by specific groups, HFD said in a privacy report made public Wednesday.

The HFD division is providing funding to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory to carry out the work to correlate radical rhetoric with acts of violence. Researchers on the project use open source intelligence sources to examine the speeches, statements, and papers of four foreign extremist groups: al Qaeda, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Hizb ut-Tahir, and the Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia.

"Central" al Qaeda and al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, led by Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, engage in terrorism against nations and institutions they oppose, the report noted. Hizb ut-Tahrir and the Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia follow the same ideology and goals but do not engage in terrorism, researchers said.

So the HFD division has broken the four groups into two control groups to examine their rhetorical differences and then to see if any conclusions can be drawn from the differences. By comparing the al Qaeda groups to the other two groups, researchers expressed hope they could determine who would engage in violent acts based on what they have to say.

Researchers plan to search the Open Source Center, provided by the US director of National Intelligence, and Hizb ut-Tahrir's Web sites for documents. From the Open Source Center, researchers will pull documents that reference al Qaeda and al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula or bin Laden and al-Zawahiri. From Hizb ut-Tahrir, researchers will use documents issued only by its central office in Jordan to focus their study on the leadership of the groups, the report said.

The rhetorical analysis undertaken in the study will examine the imagery, tone and context of rhetoric as well as the literal meaning of the words, researchers said.

The HFD division and Oak Ridge National Laboratory also plan to assemble a timeline of violent activities of al Qaeda and al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula through use of other open source intelligence sources, such as the State Department's Country Reports on Global Terrorism, reports developed by the Congressional Research Service, academic databases, newspaper reports, and others.

The privacy impact assessment filed by the S&T Directorate was a routine filing meant to determine if information will be shared and, if so, how it will be protected. The S&T Directorate noted there were no privacy concerns related to the foreign extremists.

The founder of Conservatives for Patients Rights told the 104 participants in
the call, which was organized to coincide with the National Tea Party Patriots
group’s protests at the offices of members of Congress today, that polling
suggests majorities oppose a “government take-over,” which is how Scott’s group
casts the Obama plan.

Rep. Mike Pence, also on the call, also said the tide is turning.

“Every single day more dems are expressing op to government-run health care,” he
said

A leading expert on poverty says able-bodied parents who choose not to work and poor women who don't marry have produced an ideal clientele for an ever-growing welfare state that's being funded at record levels by President Obama's stimulus package.


President Obama's stimulus bill calls for massive increases in every form of welfare, leadingHeritage Foundationresearcher Robert Rector to declare that the legislation "murdered welfare reform."

Rector says President Obama's stimulus bill is merely a foot in the door to a permanent policy of taxing future generations in order to provide larger welfare today.

"Most individuals, particularly [poor] families with children..., are poor because in good times or bad, the parents don't work very much -- they work on average only about 16 hours a week -- and also because 34 percent of all American children are born out of wedlock without a father in the home," he notes. "Those are the two principle causes ofpoverty in the U.S. today. And if we had a normal work rate among these families, and if we didn't have this very high rate of out-of-wedlock childbearing, virtually all the child poverty in the U.S. would disappear."

In the last recession, welfare spending in aggregate went up about $50 billion over a two-year period. In the current recession, President Obama is calling for a $300 billion increase in welfare spending in the first two years alone.

MINNEAPOLIS - When patriotism inspired the Rev. Jerry Fehn a decade ago to serve soldiers in combat zones abroad, the 45-year-old was afraid he had waited too long.

He needn't have worried. The National Guard, wrestling with a chronic shortage of priests, cleared the roadblocks that might have kept Fehn out.

"They didn't really want to take someone over 40," Fehn said. "But because there's such a shortage of Catholic priests in the military, they said they would grant me a waiver if I could pass the physical."

Fehn went on to serve in Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq. Meanwhile, the Guard has made significant strides in adding chaplains to its ranks, though many units still struggle to recruit for a position seen as crucial to morale. About 200 positions are open in the Army National Guard and 45 in the Air National Guard.

"It makes it harder to provide religious support," said Chaplain Samuel J.T. Boone, commandant of the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School at Fort Jackson, SC. "There are some people who we can't provide their religious rites and sacraments as we can back here in the states."

Chaplains serve as more than ministers for guardsmen in harm's way. They are confidants, counselors and arbitrators. In Iraq and Afghanistan, unit commanders have used chaplains to communicate with local leaders and clergy. Many chaplains are embedded with units and travel through war zones, putting them within arm's reach of soldiers.

The chaplain shortage contrasts with general Guard recruiting, which is at capacity. And clergy ranks in full-time military branches remain full.

The Guard's shortfall stems primarily from a lack of Roman Catholic priests willing to volunteer. Catholic dioceses that face a national shortage of priests may find it difficult to replace chaplains-- even for one weekend a month.

"The priest has those responsibilities on weekends, and two weeks of training," Fehn said. "That impacts the priest's ability to be with the congregation on weekends for weddings and funerals. And then that priest might be gone for deployment."

The Army National Guard has just six rabbis and no imams for its 362,000 guardsmen. Clergy from smaller Christian denominations and other faiths also are needed.

Exactly how many clergy are deemed enough per Guard unit varies. The Army National Guard's goal is a chaplain for every battalion, which range from 500 to 700 soldiers. The goal for Air National Guard units is three chaplains and three chaplain assistants per wing; wings generally have about 1,000 members.

Guard units are responsible for their own recruiting, and shortages are worse in some regions. Units in the more Protestant South and Midwest generally fare better, while the Mountain West states and the more Catholic Northeast struggle, according to personnel chaplains for both the Army and Air National Guards.

Certain states also have more military families and a culture that celebrates joining the armed forces, said Chaplain Bruce Marciano of the Air National Guard.

Chaplain Wayne Santos, who serves at Fort Jackson, said his home state of New Hampshire often struggles to fill its eight chaplain positions."It's a local need that has to be filled by local resources," Santos said. "They're not going to look in New York and say, 'Hey, come to New Hampshire.'"

Recruiters are using new methods to lure would-be Guard chaplains. They attend more religious conferences and seminaries to identify candidates. In the past, the Guard created a student loan repayment program and offered cash rewards to chaplains who refer clergy who complete training.And in underrepresented faiths, the Guard has allowed age exceptions for older clergy who meet physical standards join and stay longer.

The efforts have paid off. The Army National Guard boosted its chaplain ranks from 52 percent capacity in 2000 to its current 70 percent. Personnel Chaplain Bruce Farrell predicts more growth in the next few years.

The Air National Guard jumped from about 70 percent capacity in 2006 to almost 90 percent today, Marciano said. "We're not there yet, but we hope to get to 100 percent," he said.

At Fort Jackson, Boone works with new chaplains to get them into the field as quickly as possible. Training exercises include lessons on how to avoid attacks, how to work with soldiers in high-stress war zones, and how to communicate with locals."We tell guys, 'If you've seen a lot of John Wayne movies, don't be like John Wayne,'" Boone said.

Though they don't carry weapons, chaplains are sometimes caught in enemy attacks.The Rev. Tim Vakoc, a Minnesota priest who became an Army chaplain in 1996, is believed to be the first chaplain to die since the Afghanistan and Iraq wars began. Vakoc, who was gravely injured in a roadside bombing in Iraq in 2004, died last month after a fall in a nursing home.

Other chaplains have been injured, though a National Guard spokesman couldn't provide statistics on how many in recent years.

Yet the threat of physical harm doesn't deter many would-be chaplains.

In Minnesota, all 20 of the Guard's chaplain positions are filled, with two dozen candidates ready to start, a spokeswoman said. Minnesota's state chaplain, John Morris, is currently in southern Iraq with guardsmen. He and other chaplains taped a video message for Vakoc's family after he died.

"I have moments that I'm concerned," Morris said. "But soldiers need ministry. Somebody has to take a risk to provide that."

Only 21% of Americans consider themselves liberal, according to the poll.

Obama’s approval rating is free-falling on economic issues. The latest Rasmussen poll reports that 56% of Americans rate Obama fair or poor on the economy compared to 50% just one week ago.

The British government, recognizing that England has the highest rate of teen pregnancy in Europe, decided to take a radical approach. See Bookworm Room. Instead of pushing abstinence and encouraging intact families, the government decided to teach teenage girls how to have sex and give them condoms.However,this approach has backfired on the British government - it has doubled pregnancy rates in that country.

A multi-million pound initiative to reduce teenage pregnancies more than doubled the number of girls conceiving. The Government-backed scheme tried to persuade teenage girls not to get pregnant by handing out condoms and teaching them about sex. But research funded by the Department of Health shows that young women who attended the programme, at a cost of £2,500 each, were ’significantly’ more likely to become pregnant than those on other youth programmes who were not given contraception and sex advice. A total of 16 per cent of those on the Young People’s Development Programme conceived compared with just 6 per cent in other programmes.

Interestingly enough, the British approach was modeled on a New York program launched in 2004which claimed to have significantly reduced teenage pregnancies by preparing girls to have commitment-free sex. Successive efforts to duplicate this program elsewhere in the U.S. have failed, just as the program in Britain. These failures have certainly cast "doubt on the [New York] project as a whole."

My aim is much more modest, as you will see. Let me begin with a simple observation: If the last 30 years were an era of reaction, then the coming decade could turn into an era of reform, even radical reform. Six months into the Obama presidency, I would say without hesitation that the landscape, atmosphere, conversation, and agenda have strikingly changed compared to the previous eight years. In this legislative session, we can envision winning a Medicare-like public option and then going further in the years ahead. We can visualize passing tough regulatory reforms on the financial industry, which brought the economy to ruin. 7/7/09	"I Am Not Naïve" Rosslyn Smith writes -- That brief statement of Barack Obama's last month seems every bit as risible as Richard Nixon's "I am not a crook", after one reads the article on the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Obama wrote for the student newspaper his senior year at Columbia. The New York Times rediscovered the student article on Independence Day and seems to want to spin it as a sign of the president's deep nature. He railed against discussions of "first- versus second-strike capabilities" that "suit the military-industrial interests" with their "billion-dollar erector sets," and agitated for the elimination of global arsenals holding tens of thousands of deadly warheads. The student was Barack Obama, and he was clearly trying to sort out his thoughts. In the conclusion, he denounced "the twisted logic of which we are a part today" and praised student efforts to realize "the possibility of a decent world." But his article, "Breaking the War Mentality," which only recently has been rediscovered, said little about how to achieve the utopian dream. Unfortunately that sorting out process hasn't exactly progressed in 26 years. Obama's plans for a nuclear free world today are just as chock full of high sounding rhetoric and wishful thinking and just as bereft of details as they were when he was a senior at Columbia as to exactly how one is to accomplish such a lofty goal in a world of rogue nations. Conveniently forgotten by The Times is that all the nuclear freeze movement predictions Obama supported about the shape of the future were wrong. Instead of leading to a nuclear Armageddon, the increases in defense spending under Reagan led to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Eastern block. Obama seems determined to continue to pursue the policy goals he held as a student instead of learning from two decades of subsequent real world events. What is even more disturbing is how people like Richard Lugar continue to give Obama high marks for "being a good listener" and a "serious student" as they patronizingly give him a pass on the implementation of workable plans. Most Americans outgrew their student mode shortly after they had to earn a living for themselves in jobs that had more quantifiable performance criteria than community organizing, Obama naive? Throw in sophistic, jejune and purblind to everything isn't a neat fit into ideological cubby holes that haven't change in two decades and you'll be on the right track. Frank Gaffney sums it up in Commentary: "If the implications were not so serious, the discrepancy between Mr. Obama's plans and real-world conditions would be hilarious," said Frank J. 7/7/09	Hospital Won't Back Obama The hospital in Hawaii where Barack Obama claims he was born refuses to produce any documentation -- or even confirm the claim -- without permission of Obama himself. The Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu has posted on its website a letter on White House stationery dated Jan. 24 in which Obama wrote, "As a beneficiary of the excellence of Kapi'olani Medical Center -- the place of my birth -- I am pleased to add my voice to your chorus of supporters." Kristy Watanabe, the public relations specialist for the hospital refused to confirm or deny the veracity of Obama's letter claiming he was born at the hospital. "Our comment to everyone who has been calling is that federal law does not permit us to provide any more details concerning information [about Obama's birth] without authorization from Mr. Obama," Watanabe said. When WorldNetDaily asked Watanabe why the hospital did not contact Obama to ask for authorization, especially given the number of phone calls the hospital was receiving with the request, Watanabe said: "This is our response, and we can't say anything more than that." When asked if a hypothetical elected official pretended to be born at the hospital, would federal law prevent her from disclosing that? If so, which federal law would that be? "It's just our policy that without permission we don't ever answer questions about babies born in the hospital," she said. This is not the first time Kapi'olani and other Hawaiian hospitals have slammed the door on attempts to ascertain specifics about Obama's birth. Well, this account, from the Honolulu Star-Bulletin casts doubt on both Obama and the Kapi'olani Medical Center. According to this account, Obama was born at Queen's Medical Center. Here, Obama, himself, says he was born at Queen's Medical Center. According to Obama's Kenyan step-grandmother Sarah, he was born at the Coast Provincial General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya. That's three hospitals that the Obama family has identified as his birthplace. It used be "George Washington slept here." Now it's Barack Obama was born here. There will soon be signs everywhere. Of course this is the problem with Obama and his mythical biography. There are no hard facts. There's is no "rock solid evidence" about Obama's life from the year before he was born until he returned from Indonesia to Hawaii. Then there’s only shaky evidence. We have to thank our great servicemen, generals, Commanders in Chief (some, not all), and the Founders of this nation, among other things. We have defeated tyranny, fascism, terrorism, socialism, Marxism, communism, radicalism, etc. over the timeline of 233 years as a nation. We have become the superpower of the world, not through force, but through our Constitution of Freedom. All we fight for and represent is freedom. That is sadly beginning to be destroyed by emperor Obama. • When given the chance to stand strong for freedom in Iran, he ignored them. • When given the chance to stand strong for freedom and constitution in Honduras, he supported the dictator. • When given the chance to stand strong for American values overseas on numerous trips, he called us arrogant. Obama has also ignored the grave threat of North Korea and an Iranian nuclear program -- which he actually gave his blessing to. He has cut our defense budget, and is specifically targeting "missle defense" and the F-22 fighter. I guess the US Air Force is no longer needed. He is putting us at risk by wanting to allow terrorists free in America, and has sent them to various nations with bribes, when we could just keep them at Gitmo for less money, and a lower threat of another attack against America. Worst of all, Obama has destroyed our alliance with Israel, and has even ignored and insultedthe British -- our strongets allies. Now, Obama is meeting with the Russians, attempting to reach another "nuclear arms" treaty, that could include the elimination of American nukes. That would be a travesty, as America should always have nuclear weapons. It is the forces of evil that must have no nuclear devices. When faced with the threat that the Senate would not approve this treaty, Obama's people said they would ignore the US Constitution (next item). Obama's national security is appeasement, it is weakening our military, it is weakening our alliances with the forces of good in the world, it is ignoring dangerous threats, and directly standing for dictators -- it is a threat to America's Freedom. 7/6/09	Obama May Bypass Senate On Treaty HotAir blog reports that after listening to the Democrats screech for the last two years about the rule of law, this Jake Tapper report should be surprising …. but it’s not. Apparently, Barack Obama finds treaty ratification a little too complicated, and so he figures he can just commit the US to nuclear disarmament and bypass Congressional oversight: With the clock running out on a new US-Russian arms treaty before the previous Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, expires on December 5, a senior White House official said Sunday said that the difficulty of the task might mean temporarily bypassing the Senate’s constitutional role in ratifying treaties by enforcing certain aspects of a new deal on an executive levels and a "provisional basis" until the Senate ratifies the treaty. "The most ideal situation would be to finish it in time that it could be submitted to the Senate so that it can be ratified," said White House Coordinator for Weapons of Mass Destruction, Security and Arms Control Gary Samore. "If we’re not able to do that, we’ll have to look at arrangements to continue some of the inspection provisions, keep them enforced in a provisional basis, while the Senate considers the treaty." Samore said administration lawyers are exploring the "different options that are available. One option is that both sides could agree to continue the inspections by executive agreement; that would work on our side. On the Russian side, as I understand it, that would require Duma approval." The fact that the administration is preparing for such an extraordinary measure shows just how much pressure the two administrations are under to arrive at an agreement before the 18-year-old treaty expires. Uh, pardon me, but how many seats in the Senate does Obama’s party hold? Isn’t it 60? If Obama is simply moving forward with a straightforward, supportable treaty with Russia to reduce nuclear stockpiles in an effective verification system, why couldn’t he get a quick ratification? The GOP gave George H. W. Bush enough support in 1991 to pass the original START treaty, so it’s not as if ratification would be impossibly complicated. Well, that is, if the deal actually does put in place an effective verification system and doesn’t amount to a de facto unilateral disarmament. With exactly five months to win Senate approval, the effort by the Obama White House in floating this idea now makes it sound like Obama wants to give away the store in order to score some points with his 1980s no-nukes agenda (see next item). And as much as the Democrats howled over the supposed devotion of George Bush to a "unitary executive," Obama seems to have no trouble bypassing the check on executive power for treaty negotiation written explicitly into the Constitution, in Article II, Section 2: He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; Words. 7/6/09	Obama Has Gotten It Wrong For 25 Years Jennifer Rubin says that those who suspect the president is engaged in a bit of dangerous self-delusion and denial about certain unpleasant realities regarding the threats from rogue states won’t be heartened to read that his current non-proliferation fetish stems, at least according to the New York Times, from his college infatuation with the nuclear freeze movement. Apparently, youthful Obama did not focus on the results from Ronald Reagan’s refusal to buy into the fantasies of liberals -- namely the fall of the Soviet Empire. That lesson has entirely eluded Obama. Is it any wonder his critics find his current posture fraught with peril and entirely out-of-touch with the threats we face?

Relativism is as relativism does -- and Barack Obama does it well. His less than tepid response to evidence of a rigged election in Iran a few weeks ago and the subsequent brutalization of the Iranian people by an Islamofascist regime says more about our President's worldview than it does his foreign policy.Amid Tehran's bloody election protests, the Internet was awash with images of Iranian citizens – many beaten, even murdered – desperately reaching out to Uncle Sam for cover. "Obama, please help us, they are killing our young children," implored one protester's sign.

Obama's response? He launched the most vapidly uninspired course of inaction since the days of one-term Jimmy: "It's not productive, given the history of U.S.-Iranian relations, to be seen as meddling," he lectured.

Critics pounced, calling the president's hyper-measured reaction "timid" and "passive." So he stepped it up a notch. This time he expressed "deep concerns about the elections," promising to "monitor the situation." Nonetheless he urged calm saying that he was "waiting to see how it plays out." (Just what Granny needs while she's being mugged: A would-be champion to "monitor the situation" and "see how it plays out.")

Of course an abundance of "concern," "monitoring" and about 89¢ will buy you a bitter cup of coffee. So, as Obama's critics got tougher, so did his rhetoric. The next day he again modified his official position, this time mustering enough righteous indignation to upgrade from "deeply concerned" to "appalled" and "outraged."

Still, his instinctive impulse to equivocate was more than Obama could bear. In the same breath he reassured Iran's despotic Mullahs and their puerile presidential puppet, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, that "the United States respects the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and is not at all interfering in Iran's affairs."

Not really a "tear down this wall" kind of moment, but, with this president, I guess it'll have to do.

All the same, what's most puzzling to me is why anyone's remotely surprised. Obama is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal; a postmodern "progressive"; a committed social and moral relativist.

The moral relativist, by definition, is bereft of moral clarity. The only thing immoral is to reckon there are things immoral. The only absolute truth is that there is no absolute truth. No fixed right or wrong; no black or white; only shades of gray.

Indeed our debonair young Commander-in-Chief sees the world through the murkiest of gray-colored glasses. Though evidence of this abounds, I can think of no starker example than his opposition to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

Born Alive very simply requires that when a baby survives an attempted abortion – when she is "born alive" – further attempts to kill her must immediately cease and steps must be taken to save her life.

In 2002, Born Alive passed the U.S. Senate with unanimous, bipartisan support. Yet Obama, while serving in the Illinois Senate, vehemently opposed its Illinois twin. He complained that "adding an additional doctor" (read: an actual doctor) to save the child's life is "really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion."

Did you get that? To require that a doctor save the child survivor of a botched abortion would "burden the original decision" of the mother to kill her. The not-so-subtle implication, of course, is that they should, instead, put her aside until she dies. Or – as I attempt to hone that moral clarity, passé though it may be – deliberately kill her through wanton neglect.

This is infanticide by any objective measure; but not to the moral relativist, and not to Barack Obama. There is no such thing as an "objective measure," you see, only a subjective "choice."

So here it is in black and white -- Black: It's always wrong to kill babies. White: Doctors should make every effort to save the life of babies born alive. Gray: To require such would "burden the original decision" of a mother to kill her baby.

Black: It's always wrong to kill peaceful protesters. White: The U.S. demands the killing stop or we will stop it. Gray: We're monitoring the situation to see how it plays out.

Then again, I ask: Why should we expect moral clarity from this president? How can we expect him to value the lives of innocent Iranians halfway around the world when he doesn't even value the lives of the most innocent of his fellow citizens?

We can't.

But we can hold him accountable for it.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Sarah Palin says she's not a quitter, she's a fighter --but adds that, politically speaking, "if I die, I die. So be it.

"The Alaska governor spoke in taped interviews on ABC, NBC, and CNN broadcast Tuesday morning.She told CNN that "all options are on the table" for her future.

But she told ABC's Good Morning America that she recognizes she might not have political staying power after her surprise resignation Friday, which came just as she had been expected to elevate her national profile ahead of a possible 2012 GOP presidential run."I said before...'You know, politically speaking, if I die, I die. So be it,'" she said.

Speaking in fishing waders from the town of Dillingham, Palin said her administration has been paralyzed by fending off frivolous lawsuits."I'm not going to take the comfortable path. I'm going to take the right path for the state," she said of her resignation, which she characterized as a matter of progressing in an unconventional way."That caught people off guard....It's out of the box and unconventional. That's what we are as Alaskans and certainly how I am as a public servant."

Palin said she doesn't think she needs a title to affect "positive change," but added that she can't see herself being totally out of public service.

Palin is returning to the public eye four days after her bombshell announcement, albeit in a place far removed from the glare of the national media: in a remote fishing village 30 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

She was scheduled to appear in Kotzebue to sign a bill designed to bring public safety officers to small towns. Kotzebue, a town of about 3,000 people, is 550 miles northwest of Anchorage and lies on a spit of sand at the end of a peninsula.

There has been speculation that she has some legal issue that is not yet known to the public. But her lawyer told The Associated Press on Monday that she has no legal problems whatsoever, and simply is tired of the hostile political climate, legal bills, and other distractions.

"She is leaving now because I think she believes that she has become the issue, rightly or wrongly, with all these ethics complaints and with the issues involving the Legislature, the combativeness they've been demonstrating toward her since she returned from the campaign," Thomas Van Flein said."I think she believes it's in the best interest of the state to progress forward, for her to move on to other issues.

"Palin has become a lightning rod for partisan politics in Alaska since her return from the 2008 presidential campaign after John McCain selected her as his running mate for the GOP ticket. She has racked up an estimated $500,000 in legal bills defending the flurry of ethics complaints, including one filed Monday that alleges she is violating ethics law by taking per diem payments when she stays in her Wasilla home instead of the governor's mansion in Juneau.In addition, her relationship with Democrats in the state Senate-- once among her staunchest allies-- deteriorated in the last session.

At the state Capitol in Juneau, the "Time to Make a Difference" clock that counted the time left in Palin's term was taken down from the wall outside her office. And people from around the country called up her office to inquire about the situation, as did a few cruise ship tourists who made the trek to the Capitol.

The young woman at the desk outside Palin's office was busy answering phones."Yes, she is getting swamped with e-mails," the woman tells one caller. "Yes, they do get forwarded to the appropriate person."

"Unfortunately, we are having a back load of e-mails so it will take some to get a response," she tells another.

Where is she? Why is she stepping down? When is her last day? Why so soon?

The tour guide tried to politely answer the questions for the tourists when she could, but for the most part had no answers.

Some of the visitors left Palin messages in a guest log."Sarah _ Please Stay!" one person wrote.

Kathy Waldo-Gilbert, a registered Democrat from Iowa who was on her honeymoon in Alaska, said she was especially disappointed because she believes that Palin's early departure from the governor's job will make it harder for other women who want to be taken seriously in high-profile positions. Waldo-Gilbert voted Republican for the first time in last year's presidential election."When things get hard, you stick around," she said.

Erika Fagerstrom, executive residential manager at the governor's mansion, said Palin and her family will be missed. Even though Palin lived most of the time at her home in Wasilla, she spent "quite a bit" of time at the stately columned mansion near the capitol building, she said."We are sad to see her go. They are a great family," she said.

Palin will be succeeded by Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who has announced he will seek to retain the office in the 2010 election.

State Rep. John Harris, a former House speaker and Republican from Valdez, announced Monday that he's preparing to file paperwork with state election officials in a bid for governor.

7-1b The leader of a Messianic Jewish ministry is questioning the decision of mega-church pastor Rick Warren to address a Muslim group, which has terrorist connections, during its annual convention over the Fourth of July weekend in Washington, DC.

Jan Markell, the founder of Olive Tree Ministries, is concerned that the high-profile pastor will not use the opportunity to share the gospel of Christ with Muslims. Warren, the pastor of Saddleback Church in California, has agreed to appear at the convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and be part of its main session, discussing the convention's theme: "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." ISNA was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case in 2007.

Warren's involvement with ISNA follows the Muslim organization's attempt to build partnerships with people of other faiths, including the Union of Reform Judaism and the American Baptist Churches. Markell does not expect Warren to share the gospel during his address.

"Why go to a Muslim outfit and not share your faith and not tell them the truth? If he's just going to come and tell them they can have a wonderful and happy life, why go? I don't understand any purpose," she admits.

And Markell says there is another reason why Warren should stay away from the Islamic Society of North America.

"The group that he is visiting has ties to terror; there's simply no two ways about it," she notes. "It has ties to terror and has ties to CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations."

Markell admits she cannot understand why the Southern Baptist Convention or Warren's own congregation has not expressed any concerns about Warren's dealings with this very questionable Islamic organization.

An article posted on the ISNA website suggests the Islamic group is holding out hope President Barack Obama may make a surprise appearance at the convention.

So far today I have kept myself busy by joining four new groups and Posting our Fast & Prayer and also our Plant A Cross Project at ALL 24 or so Groups we are associated with. Not quite an easy task. In some Groups I could add the attachments, in the Blogs I had to direct them here and to the side Bar, etc.

I have two or three other group invitations to accept this evening. I ask that our members please post a little something at our G & C groups and where we Blog. This is one of the main purposes for God & Country USA. To get the Word out. Not to be Pew warmers. I Pray that the Lord moves upon the hearts of the membership to post at these places. They need to hear what you have to give from the heart of the Lord. Share the Fruit that the Lord has given you or it will wither and die on the vine. Bless you all.

Just a few things I would like to bring up before I turn in for the night......er........day.

1. I truly would love to see people in the Prayer Room. Come on gang, this site isn't THAT hard to navigate. There is a Tab right under the D on GOD on our Title that says, DISCUSSIONS. Click that TAB. That's right, that one. Then right there you will see Prayer Room! Wow. Now wasn't that easy.

2. Then there is the Praise Room but I gather no one has any Praise Reports or even bothers to respond to the fact that someone we Prayed for found out that the cancer they thought would kill her husband is 100% curable. Now either you don't care, or you are not bothering to read what is being posted. Yes, I am blunt aren't I?

3. Now, what if it were YOU that needed the Prayer and no one came to Pray for YOU! Or no one came to hear your Praise report. What gets me, is no one has a Praise Report to give God the Glory?

4. If you think I am being hard on you and you don't like it...........leave. This is serious stuff here people. Prayer is our most POWERFUL TOOL!

So where are you? It is NOT that hard to navigate this site that you can't find a prayer or Praise Room. If you have a complaint then take it up with God and tell Him why you aren't supporting people that need your support in Prayer.

5. I am also very, very overjoyed that everyone is so Blessed and doing so well that they need no Prayer at all. The Lord wants humble people. Humble people are not afraid to ask for prayer. Nor too proud to pray for others.

I went through this exact thing at the Upper Room, it was the only way to get people to start Praying, we ended up with six prayer rooms. Let's get with the program brethren. I'm not asking for myself but for those that need prayer and because God calls us to pray for one another and if we are not faithful in a little He will not trust you with more.

Have a nice day. By the way, please keep me in prayer and go say a prayer for some of those that are in need of prayer or as the Word says, if one in the body rejoices, the whole Body rejoices.

Dare to be a Daniel
The answer is clear. The strategy for survival of any society is repeated throughout the Holy Scriptures and must be applied today. We need to enlist this vital strategy to preserve America's freedom and strength. People of faith need to persuade decent, patriotic, God-fearing Americans to turn their hearts to God and live in a manner worthy of His intervention.

Christians must dare to be a Daniel.

Daniel stood firm when facing what seemed to be insurmountable challenges and circumstances. Believe in your heart that America is still reclaimable. Like Daniel, we must set a godly example, and give primary emphasis to seeking God's will in our own lives.

"We The People" must also take every opportunity to encourage others to do the same.

Because America was established by God to be a beacon of freedom, we must also promote peaceful, law-abiding citizen activism on an individual level. As our forefathers were ready to take on the responsibilities of "participatory" citizenship, so should those of us who demand nothing less than the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I believe God will hear the prayers and pleas of the humble and righteous who are willing to get on their knees and ask Him to spare our country.

Whole armor of God
If you are attending a church that does not have a daily Bible study guide to feed your soul, then it's your responsibility to buy one. Make sure you purchase a study plan that is age-appropriate for your family.

We can no longer be complacent and unaware of our spiritual condition. Rededicate and revive your faith. Don't become like the church of Laodicea. Listen to words of The Almighty. (See Revelation 3:14-21.) He offers you both praise and rebuke.

Many of God's people feel worn and weary because they are not wearing the whole armor of God. Every day, we see our cherished liberties disappear. They are being stolen from us as we tremble unnecessarily. We know that, eventually, our pastors and the churches will be muzzled and undermined with unjust laws. Prepare yourself. Have a prayer on your lips to offer up to heaven.

Communist policies
Public hate and disdain for people of faith have been allowed to fester since this administration swept into Washington. In fact, it is promoted by the "progressive" ideologues within our legislative halls, public institutions, and the biased liberal media.

Throughout history, communist leaders have seized power by promoting themselves as populists, and often completely hiding their own ideology. Indeed, in a poll taken after communist Hugo Chavez' first election victory in Venezuela, only three percent of the electors believed Chavez to be a socialist, let alone a communist. Currently 32 percent of Americans believe Obama to be a socialist.

The initial stages of communization of a country invariably begin with seven basic steps:

1. Seizing control over the free flow of the nation's money
Obama has stated that he wants to convert the stock the U.S. government now owns in the nation's banks from preferred stock, which is the case currently, to common stock. This modification in type of stock may seem irrelevant at first glance, but under further analysis it is the single greatest communist policy the U.S. government has ever adopted: It means that the federal government will control all of the currently publicly traded major banks and financial institutions in the nation which are currently in the hands of individual shareholders. Not only will the current shareholders' rights be trampled, but the control of the nation's flow of money is the first keystone of communism.

2. Stripping capitalists of their assets
According to U.S. bankruptcy code, secured creditors such as the ones who have outstanding debt against Chrysler and GM have to be paid before unsecured creditors. That is the law. Obama has ignored this law, and seized the vast majority (89% in GM's case) of all "asset value" of the automakers and taken direct control or given it away for free to the unions. Karl Marx's theses were all based on the workers owning the means of production, and thus communism takes hold in America.

3. Changing the structures of government to suit
Obama has given the GOP until October to approve his health care plan, which many experts have shown would be as socialized as Cuba's. If the Republican Party does not meet his demands, the Democratic Party will simply change the very rules of the United States Senate to pass their legislation through simple majority, instead of the 60% which has been required by the Senate through history. Changing legislation to suit the leader is another common tactic of communist leaders from Chavez to Castro.

4. Taking advantage of a crisis to impose communism
Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel published a book entitled "The Plan" which would require (yes, require) young Americans regardless of their political stripe to serve in a direct copy of Hugo Chavez' red-beret local militias. "The Plan" also promotes massive taxpayer-funded programs as universally-free university tuition and health care, as well as tax reform to ensure that the middle and upper classes are crushed by the enormous new government expenditures. Obama has already admitted such a 'soak anyone making over $250,000/year' punitive tax policy. Emanuel is famous for his quote 'you never want a serious crisis to go to waste....[it's] an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before,' which is the prototypical process whereby communists seize power — witness Lenin, Mao, Castro, Tito, et al.

'Thy will be done'
The man in the White House is being unfaithful to his country and to God. President Barack Hussein Obama thinks only of his own earthly ambitions and pernicious ideology — Marxism. We are admonished to pray for our leaders. Please place the president and his full Cabinet on the top of your prayer list, and pray for God's will to be done. (See Matt. 6:9-13.)

It is time for every born-again, traditional Christian to network. All churches should plan a day to bus into Washington, DC, for a full day of prayer and repentance before the Lord. Ask Him to once again set the "captives free" and "heal and restore our land":

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).
