On April 6, 2009, President Obama declared to the Muslim world that America is not a Judea-Christian nation. Those words, spoken during an address given in Turkey, appeared heart-felt and sincere -- but according to the actual historic record, were sincerely wrong.

There is a mountain of evidence to support the fact that America was, and is, a Judeo-Christian nation. That is certainly true today -- but what about tomorrow, next year, or a decade from now? Are we looking toward the future with our eyes wide open or our eyes wide shut?The reality is that while President Obama may have intentionally lied to his Muslim audience to woo and win their approval, had he been speaking strictly as a futurist, the trend line shows that he is absolutely right.

The world is changing much faster than we realize. Europe will be a Muslim continent in less than 50 years. In fact, the only Western country that is currently regenerating itself as a Christian nation is the United States -- and the only reason that is occurring is due to the steady stream of immigrants flowing in from Mexico.

Mexican mothers are traditionally Catholic. When they give birth in a U.S. hospital, their children are counted both as U.S. citizens and as Christians. Factored into the nation's regeneration statistics, these children contribute an additional 0.6 to the 1.6 of other U.S. families, giving America an overall rating of 2.2 children per family. Population experts define 2.2 as a break-even point, because 2.2 is the minimal number of children per family a nation needs to sustain itself. When family size falls below that, the culture begins to die.

What does this mean? It means the only reason the United States is currently sustaining itself is because of illegal immigration from Mexico.

That is one way to look at the impact of immigration on a country, here is another.

The Muslim way – immigrate, procreate, populate, infiltrate, overtake
Unsustainable birthrates in France, Germany, Italy, England and Spain, combined with increased Muslim immigration to those countries, have created the "perfect storm" for the cultural transformation of Western Europe.

The strategy is based on immigrant families simply out-populating their host country. While it is difficult to imagine something like this occurring in a totalitarian regime like China or North Korea, in democratic countries it is not only possible, it is happening right now.

Take Great Britain, for instance. In England, family size averages 1.8 children per couple. Compare that to 8.1 children per couple for Muslim immigrant families and what we see is a little startling if not mind-blowing. The cultural transformation of Europe is driven entirely by Western society abandoning its biblical mandate to "be fruitful and multiply!"

The Muslim average of 8.1 children per family verses 1.8 for Brits produces a net gain of 6.3 children per family. Keep that up over three generations of voting age adults and the social, political, and financial control of Western democracies is not only likely, it is inevitable. Some European countries are now incenting natural-born citizens to have more children, but it is too late. Population experts say the trend is irreversible. Within 50 years, the European Union will be under Muslim control and Europe will cease to exist as we know it.

Muslim control is a numbers game
Deploying this strategy globally, Muslims can take political control of the Western world without firing a shot. Christians need to understand what is happening, and recognize that our children and grandchildren are going to live in a much different world than the one we occupy today.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge - Hosea 4:6The only way to address a problem is to be aware of it. Make no mistake: the U.S. government is aware of this problem -- they just don't know what to do about it.

Based on his dismissal of America as a Judeo-Christian nation, President Obama's approach is to heal wounds by removing Christianity as a stumbling block to progress. That way, he can proactively embrace the Muslim world as a potential trading partner and friend of the United States.

The president is well aware of the Muslim transformation of Europe and is preparing for what he believes will happen in America. He is not looking back at our history; he is looking forward to what could be a Muslim-controlled America.

What does that mean to Christians? One thing -- We must look to God...and prepare accordingly.

If we don't, our fate will be the same as Europe and Canada. Our nation is clearly on that path, but not as far down the road as our cousins across the pond and to the north.

What happened in Europe can happen to us
The vast majority of European couples abandoned the faith of their Christian ancestors long ago. Today only five percent of people living in Europe actively attend church. The erosion of faith in Europe, Canada and to a lesser extent, here in the United States, is accompanied by three cultural phenomena: (1) smaller families, (2) desire for personal autonomy, and (3) focus on materialism.

Globally, preoccupation with self is nothing new, but the aggressive promotion of anti-family values and the cultural pressure to keep family size limited for the good of society is.

Me-first-always
The media glorification of the affluent jet-setter lifestyle, and the time, money and untold hours required to achieve wealth without God, have replaced monogamous marriage and the joy of family as the bedrock of Western culture. In the wake of this horrific shift in values, marriages crumble, families disintegrate, and millions of children grow up in single-parent homes -- or worse, don't grow up at all because they are aborted.

It is not that human beings won't do the right thing when given the opportunity. It's the simple fact that apart from a moral foundation based on the truth of God, we literally have no idea what the "right thing" is. Left with nothing to guide us but our sin nature, it is our nature to sin.

When a cultural shift takes away the religious foundation that shapes behavior and establishes norms, it sets the stage for a moral vacuum. In post-modern Europe, that moral vacuum has created a "less is more" mentality among modern-day couples that translates as follows: Fewer kids equals more time, money, and freedom for us.

Muslims don't think like this
By contrast, the Islamic world seems to understand and appreciate two things very well: the value of family, and the importance of multiplication over many generations.

So must we. Not because Christians are afraid of Muslims, but because we want every Muslim to know and understand the truth of Jesus Christ, so they can be set free.

As Muslim immigration accelerates in our own back yard, Christians need to prepare themselves to love them into the Kingdom. Why? Because that is the mission Christ has called us to carry out in Matthew 28:19 – "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations."

As fields ripen, what is needed to win Muslims to Christ?
Around the world and throughout the United States, Bible-believing Christians must begin thinking strategically and long-term. We must wake up and convince the leadership of our churches to help us take the actions necessary to equip ourselves as disciple makers within our own homes and families.

Winning the Muslim world to Christ does not begin with converting the mullahs. It begins with discipling our own children and grandchildren, so they understand the reason for the hope that is within them and are equipped to share that truth and teach it to others.

A compelling desire to fulfill God's will in our own hearts and then pass the torch on to our children is the starting point of everything.
